![]() So while not do-able by pure pogoing, but I guess still do-able via shade skips which is essentially normal pogo but using your own shade as an additional platform (which I just looked up since I don't know anything about Hollow Knight speedrunning strats). ![]() Then again, not recommended unless you're really hardcore lol. So I guess it's do-able without Crystal Heart after all. So while not do-able by pure pogoing, but I guess still do-able via shade skips which is essentially normal pogo but you intentionally die once in strategic locations to use your own shade as an additional platform (which I just looked up since I don't know anything about Hollow Knight speedrunning strats). It's a skip used in Myla% (where you don't get Crystal Dash). But I've always assumed some crazy speedrunner might have done it for breakfast by somehow barely clipping the swing arc on the spike ledge and go up that way.ĭie next to the ledge, use Vengeful Spirit (which won't kill the Shade with a nail upgrade), and then proceed with a regular Shade skip. I am not sure if it's actually do-able, though, as I just assumed it (especially you kinda need to do something similar to access Nailmaster Sheo iirc. Originally posted by JustAGamerPerson:Just to correct you, you can pogo most of the way, but at the end, there is a ledge that you can't get up without Crystal Heart or Monarch Wings. So if you're still new to the game and early in progress, then don't worry about it. The gist is that, the double jump is a mid-late game upgrade for the playable character. The lamp/Lumafly Lantern is sold by Sly, a merchant that you rescued in an abandoned house that is near Gruz Mother, in a area below her accessible after her defeat, in the Forgotten Crossroads. Its 'usual' entrance via the toll entrance also requires the possession of Lumafly Lantern I think the other entrance is an obscure entry where it requires Desolate Dive which is a skill you gained by defeating Soul Master in Soul Sanctum, a sub-region in the City of Tears This is because the zone has a few areas that are pitch black, most notably its entrance iirc. To better access the second location with the Crystal Heart, it is better you have purchased the lamp, or Lumafly Lantern, that gives you light in pitch black dark areas of the map. It is not tied to the area boss, and could be located if you were to explore the area fully. To access the super long dash, which in the game is called Crystal Heart (it is NOT an upgrade to your regular dash, but an entirely different ability with a conditional activation) and would be found in a region called Crystal Peak. (Incidentally, perfecting 'pogo'ing is an essential skill in Hollow Knight especially in later stages of the game) It is technically accessible without if you can manage to perfectly 'pogo' bounce your way across by down-attacking on the spike for the bounce but I wouldn't recommend it. This is because to access the boss you have to cross a bed of spikes that lasts like 3 screens. To access this area, you may need to access another area prior to get another ability that gives you a long multi-screen dash. The area is called Ancient Basin and the boss in question is called Broken Vessel. ![]() ![]() It is available as a reward for beating one of the game's bosses, accessed via a door that opens behind the boss after their defeat which would lead to an area containing the Monarch Wings. Double jump is called Monarch Wings in the game.
